What if?

Reflection breeds discontent,
The what ifs and now what’s.
Who knows what tomorrow brings
Beyond the rising sun?
We ask what if we hadn’t.
We ask what if we had.
We’d ask what if forever
If our speculations weren’t so bad.
Regret and resentment
Follow the what ifs and the why’s
And in the mean time we don’t realize
That our lives are passing by.
Living in the moment
To knock on future’s door
Is better than dwelling on the past,
Something we’ve all done before.
What matters is where we’re going
Not where we have been
And a pointless question always
Is asking what could’ve been.
We need to seize the moment,
Get our head out of the clouds,
And kiss the stars with our lovers,
While we are still around.
Love gives meaning to life.
Not the sum of our mistakes
So here and now what if doesn’t matter
Instead, of life’s offerings we should partake.
